La piccola canadese

"Paris Hilton e Lindsay Lohan? Provo indulgenza e pena per queste ragazze ipersessualizzate, ma qualcuno si chiede perché sono diventate così?"

Quanto ci vuole ad apprezzare un nuovo attore o una nuova attrice? Alle volte è amore a prima vista, altre ci vuole un intero film, altre ancora bisogna aspettare il film giusto. Per Ellen Page è bastato uno sguardo, una battuta in "Juno", per entrare a far parte delle mie attrici preferite. Voi direte "Aspetta è il primo film che arriva in Italia..." e io vi rispondo "sbagliato", perché, spinto dalla curiosità, ho cercato notizie su di lei e sui suoi precedenti lavori trovando un piccolo film di culto "Hard Candy", un thriller teso che in Italia non è mai arrivato. Visto che l'argomento centrale è la pedofilia, non mi stupisco, si sa che noi italiani ci guardiamo dall'affrontare certi argomenti, non sia mai che qualche prelato alzi la tonaca.... Questa pellicola (trovata sottotitolata in rete) non ha fatto che confermare le qualità espresse dalla "piccola canadese" (così ribattezzata per la sua altezza, 1.55) che con i suoi 21 anni e la testa ben salda, si appresta a diventare in futuro una delle migliori attrici sulla piazza. E' la sua naturalezza a colpire più di tutto, ti stupisce a tal punto dal farti dimenticare che stai vedendo un film e quanti ci riescono oggi? La sua immagine con la pipa in bocca è diventata un'icona e presto la rivedremo nel film d'esordio alla regia di Drew Barrimore "Whip it", dopodiché nell'horror "Lighthouse" tratto da una storia di E. A. Poe. Ma la piccola Giunone si guarda bene dal diventare una star a tutti gli effetti cercando di schivare le grandi produzioni (è apparsa solo in "X-Men 3") e tenendosi ben salda al cinema indipendente tanto da dichiarare "Non voglio il successo di Hollywood. Penso che sia più importante provare a dire qualcosa con i tuoi film [....] Non mi importa se le persone non amano i miei personaggi, quello che conta è che pensino al messaggio del film". Il ruolo che l'ha fatta notare è quello della problematica Sherry in "Mouth to mouth" che sto cercando di recuperare in rete. I suoi idoli sono Kate Winslet e Patti Smith, la piace il ciclismo, il basket, il calcio, correre, nuotare insomma, è una grande sportiva. Si fa segnalare anche per il buon gusto cinematografico visto che il suo film preferito è "I quattrocento colpi" di Truffaut, e non dubito che i critici ne saranno lieti.

Era uno degli attori più promettenti nella scena cinematografica. Ci lascia con il rammarico per quello che avrebbe potuto offrire in futuro. Ultimamente era impegnato sul set del nuovo film di Terry Gilliam The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, il suo ruolo, grazie ad una modifica della sceneggiatura, verrà conservato permettendo al regista di completare il film ssenza dover rigirare le scene con un nuovo attore. Attenderemo con impazienza la sua interpretazione nell'ultimo Batman dove interpreta il ruolo di Joker, ruolo che per sua ammissione lo ha sfinito fisicamente e mentalmente tanto da prendere sonniferi per poter dormire, gli stessi sonniferi che gli sono stati fatali.
